IMTech Departments
Our departments are driven by the sector's need to innovate in digitalisation and decarbonisation and to achieve carbon neutrality, and are interdisciplinarily interconnected, with a focus on innovation and implementation of technological innovations, digital and sustainable practices, as well as the creation of partnerships for project solutions.
The department focuses on research and innovation in metallurgy, covering industrial decarbonisation, biomass utilisation, state-of-the-art technologies, optimisation of iron and steel production, steel flow studies, refinery slag modelling, continuous steel casting simulation and the use of hydrogen to reduce CO2 emissions. The department focuses on fuel combustion research aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing emissions, covering flue gas recirculation, the effect of magnetic fields, low-emission combustion, heat flow and heat transfer, mathematical modelling, renewable energy, biomass gasification and energy media distribution.
